Customize Prompt Templates
Prompt templates control how the AI writes your content. There are three types, each serving a different stage of content creation.
Template Types
topic_filter
Controls how the AI selects which topics to turn into videos. The AI receives all fetched topics and picks the best N (where N = your posting cadence).
When to customize: If the AI keeps selecting topics that aren’t right for your channel (too niche, too broad, wrong tone).
hook_gen
Controls how opening hooks are generated. The hook is the single most important element — it determines whether someone stops scrolling.
When to customize: If hooks feel generic, too similar, or don’t match your channel’s personality.
script_gen
Controls how the full voiceover script is written. This determines the structure, pacing, and call-to-action of every video.
When to customize: If scripts feel too long/short, the CTA is wrong, or the tone doesn’t match your channel.
Editing Templates
- Go to your channel settings → Script tab
- Each template type has a text area showing the current prompt
- Templates support variables that get replaced at generation time:
| Variable | Available In | Description |
|---|---|---|
{topic} | hook_gen, script_gen | The selected topic/headline |
{hook} | script_gen | The selected hook |
{count} | hook_gen, topic_filter | Number to generate/select |
{duration} | script_gen | Target video duration in seconds |
{word_count} | script_gen | Target word count |
{source_context} | script_gen | Source headline/description |
{topics_list} | topic_filter | All fetched topics |
Tips
- Be specific about what NOT to do. “Never use clickbait the script can’t deliver on” is more useful than “be honest.”
- Include examples. “Hook styles that work: question, bold claim, nostalgia trigger” gives the AI concrete patterns.
- Reference your audience. “Target audience: 18-34 gamers who appreciate deep cuts” focuses the tone.
- Start with defaults. The built-in templates are battle-tested. Only customize once you’ve seen the output and know what to change.
