Create Your First Channel
A channel represents one YouTube Shorts account with its own voice, visual style, and content strategy.
Creating a Channel
- Open the dashboard and go to Channels in the sidebar
- Click Create Channel (or scroll to the create form)
- Fill in the fields:
Name
The display name for this channel (e.g., “Gaming”, “Personal Finance”, “AI Tools”). This shows in the dashboard and is used in YouTube tags.
Slug
Auto-generated from the name. This is the URL-safe identifier used throughout the system (e.g., gaming, personal-finance). You can edit it, but keep it short and lowercase.
Voice
Choose the TTS voice for this channel. Each has a distinct character:
| Voice | Best For |
|---|---|
| alloy | Neutral, works for anything |
| echo | Warm/conversational (film, books) |
| fable | Storytelling, energetic (tech, discoveries) |
| nova | Bright and warm (lifestyle, books) |
| onyx | Deep and authoritative (finance, gaming) |
| shimmer | Clear and gentle (educational) |
Speed
Speaking pace multiplier. Start at 1.0x and adjust after hearing a few videos:
- 0.95x — Slightly slower, good for thoughtful topics (books, finance)
- 1.0x — Natural pace, safe default
- 1.05-1.1x — Slightly faster, good for energetic niches (gaming, AI tools)
Colors
- Background Color — Default solid color behind subtitles (used when no slideshow/image is configured)
- Accent Color — Brand highlight color used in subtitles, thumbnail bars, and UI elements
Posting Cadence
Target videos per day. This controls how many topics the AI selects per fetch cycle. Start with 2-3 and adjust based on your review capacity and content quality.
Prompt Template
Optional channel-level instructions injected into all AI prompts. Use this to set the overall tone:
You are a viral gaming content writer. Tone: enthusiastic but slightly
sarcastic. Target audience: 18-34 gamers who appreciate deep cuts and nostalgia.Connect YouTube
After creating your channel, go to the channel’s settings page, open the Publishing tab, and click Connect YouTube Channel. You’ll be redirected to Google where you can pick the brand channel to associate with this dashboard channel. After authorization, you’ll see a green “Connected” badge with the YouTube channel name.
Each channel connects to its own YouTube brand channel, so you can run multiple channels posting to different YouTube accounts. See YouTube Posting for more details on how per-channel connections work.
After Creating
Your channel will appear in the sidebar under Channels. Click it to access the full settings panel with tabs for Sources, Script Templates, Voice, Video, Music, and Publishing.
